Overview
Over the course of 6 months, I interned for the communications team at Calvary Church, Lancaster, as a graphic designer. My internship was originally planned for February - May, but I had the great opportunity to continue another 3 months into the summer. During my internship, I helped create Sunday morning bulletins, handouts for different ministries, signage, church slides, edited layouts, and assisted in any other way needed.
I learned how to work with a team as well as with others in the church. This internship helped me learn to listen to a “client's” needs and execute a project within the guidelines I was given. I also learned technical skills from setting up files, saving and packaging the projects for print, and working with new management software - Trello.
Bulletin - Needed & Known
For the “Needed & Known” series, the communication team worked together to create an engaging design that could be used throughout the whole series. I developed some drafts of designs that are pictured to the left of the bulletin.

I put all the other elements together to make the final cover fit together and created the “needed & known” title logo. I also updated the back cover to have the correct blurb and to share the topic of the upcoming Sunday message.
Bulletin - Psalms
For the Psalms series, we developed paintings with the marbling effect that were used in many graphics. For this bulletin, I used one of the graphics, placing the text on the cover in the best way. Each week the Psalm chapter and dates at the bottom were changed to correlate to the specific Sunday.
As above, I also updated the back cover with the correct blurb and to say what the upcoming Sunday message will be on.

Until Then
Until Then was an event the church was hosting as a Choir and Orchestra concert.
I created a CD Cover design, a program cover, and an announcement poster. I used the previously chosen font for the title and the approved background image. I then took the text information provided to me and l created a cover for the program that would be handed out at the event as well as a poster that was placed throughout the church.
This was one of the first projects I worked on for this Internship, but it exposed me to working with a “client” and having to make the information work on the size restrictions required.

LiveSent Handouts
Calvary Church was sending seven short-term student ministry groups around the world to experience what the mission field looks like on a small scale.
For this, I created a 5.5 x 8.5 and 8.5 x 11 size handout. I added the LiveSent logo along with the information provided to me from each mission team. I arranged the information the best way possible and added a cut off section at the bottom of the page for later use. After organizing the content, I created graphics for visual context of the places the teams were traveling. The most challenging part was fitting all the names and information on both paper sizes while keeping the font a readable size and allowing breathing room throughout the design.

Come & See Handout
The Come & See campaign was created to prompt the Children and Student ministries as the new year was beginning. Volunteers and workers were needed so the ministries requested a handout to encourage others to serve.
I created a 5.5 x 8.5 size handout. I applied the Come & See logo that I created as well as the information provided to me from each ministry. I then had to arrange the information in the best way possible. After organizing the content, I designed more graphic elements to make the handout more engaging and pleasing to the eye.

30 Days of Prayer Handout
The 30 Days of Prayer handout was created with the purpose of encouraging christians to pray with “love and respect” for Muslims around the world at the same time. The hope is that believers can gain better understanding and respect for Muslims and their faith and culture.
I was asked to create 8.5in x 11in size posters that would be hung around the church, as well as handed out after church services. The poster includes the 30 Days of Prayer logo, the dates of the event, and a call to action to pick up the $1 book.
